What Is Your Thyroid Gland and Why is It Important?

  • Your thyroid gland is a butterfly shaped organ that sits at the bottom of your neck
    • It regulates many processes in the body such as energy, metabolism, heart rate, breathing, menstrual cycles, and body temperature
    • It’s apart of the endocrine system, which includes the pituitary gland in the brain, your thyroid gland, the adrenal glands, pancreas, and sex organs (testes, and ovaries)
